MDMA, short for 3,4-Methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine, is an entactogen with stimulating and hallucinogenic effects. It was first synthesized in 1912, but more widespread use not being of any true relevance until the late 1960s/early 1970s. MDMA is an interesting compound in that it is stimulating but has much different effects on the mind and body than traditional stimulants. It is also reported to have many psychedelic effects, but again, very different from traditional psychedelics such as LSD or psilocybin. As I mentioned above, it is labelled as an entactogen, not a stimulant or psychedelic.
Many Harm Reduction organizations have the following rule of thumb to calculate a medium dose for the average healthy person. Multiply your body weight in Kg by 1,5 = a moderate MDMA dose in mg for most people.
Recommended dosage can vary by body weight, personal experience, health and more.
For a first-timer, depending on the desired intensity, your body weight and personal drug experience you will probably want to dose somewhere in between the light and mild dose ranges. Very light may be good for someone with little to no prior experience with MDMA or other compounds, but aside from that anything above those ranges isn't wise for a first experience. It's also better not to take other drugs for the first time. You'll thank us later.
At most, it's pretty universally accepted that you should not be dosing more than once every three months. Although it is hard to exactly say, we do know for certain that taking excessive dosages and or abusing in the long term is neurotoxic. MDMA is highly serotonergic and should be respected.
Tolerance should not be a worry with MDMA, as I mentioned above you should not be using it anywhere near often enough for this question to arise. MDMA is not a sustainable drug to abuse, by any means. It's a situation where you are better off taking something else. Many people do say that after 20+ times 'the magic's mostly gone. You'll still have a fun time, but it won't be like those couple's first ones. Keep this in mind.
Reasonable jumps in dosage can range from 25-50 milligrams, although you really shouldn't be exceeding 200 milligrams at an absolute most 250. MDMA is not like psychedelics where you can take multiple times the needed amount and it's physically safe... MDMA is a compound where harm reduction guidelines need to be strictly followed.
Re-dosing is never a smart option, but if you do wind up re-dosing make sure it's only one re-dose and preferably before three maybe three and a half hours in. Also, keep your starting dosage in mind. Re-doses realistically shouldn't exceed 50 milligrams, and your total dosage should never exceed 250 milligrams. (Including your re-dose)
Avoiding bad come-downs all comes down to smart planning, pun intended. Using the basic understanding of MDMA pharmacological, it's pretty easy to pinpoint what causes it and ways it can be avoided. Firstly, excessive dosage. Exceeding 150 milligrams in this regard is not wise. Second, make sure you are well rested, properly hydrated and have eaten properly the days leading into an experience. It has to do with self-care, precise dosing and better decision-making.
MDMA is a relatively safe compound if you follow harm reduction protocol. I will go over a few key points down below, all being equally important in their own way. As I previously stated, MDMA is a compound where you need to strictly follow harm reduction practices. Not just one or the other. MDMA is similar to psychedelics in the fact that the way you approach things will have a great impact on your time spent on the substance.
Reagent testing is super cheap and a must no matter what you are consuming, I can't think of a single valid excuse to not be testing. Research chemicals and Fentanyl prevalence is at an all-time high, and only climbing by the day. You can find a list of reliable home test kit vendors here. If you want to be 100% certain about what's in your pill/powder, then get it lab tested at one of these places (depending on where you live pricing ranges from free to $100 per test). For more testing info check out r/ReagentTesting.
To do this, you will need a scale (preferably a milligram scale). In one gram, there is 1,000 milligrams. If your scale measures in milligrams, this will be easy. If it's not as accurate and can only be measured by the "point" (100 milligrams), you will need to be extra careful. Pretty much, you need an accurate scale. There are no tips/tricks that work, trust me. If you don't trust your scale, buy a new one. Identifying the dosage in pill form is not possible.
MDMA is a compound that can dehydrate you at very considerable levels, much more than even most traditional stims if not all. You have to make sure you are drinking enough, but don't drink too much. That can be just as bad as too much. It would be smartest to have both a minimum and maximum, amount of good hydration ready before dosing.
Temperature control is a must-have with MDMA in my opinion, this is a huge drawback when it comes to festivals, concerts etc. And we all know MDMA is notorious for being the drug of choice in these settings. This is probably the hardest one to control, but always keep this in mind as well. Having something you can check your body temperature with just in case never hurts.
Some of these are very good examples of why you should always do your research before combining drugs or taking even a single drug for that matter.
Any combination can be risky, especially some of these, and the reality is most of these are actually very common - do your research and follow harm reduction protocol! Even "physically low-risk" combinations carry their own hazards, make sure you adjust your dosages and do your homework on what to expect.

While it is true that not all these drugs combined with MDMA will have much synergy. Taking more drugs (at the same time) does carry a higher set of risks, some more than others. Check the Tripsit.me Combination Chart for additional info before doing it.
It's best to treat MDMA similarly to psychedelics. Dose in trusted places, around trusted people with as good of a mindset as possible. Avoid all potentially risky situations, MDMA is not a compound that leaves most users as prone to negative experiences as say psychedelics; but it is by no means impossible. If you are not experienced with MDMA, I wouldn't advise throwing other drugs in the mix. Read this paper for more in-depth advice about MDMA Flipping.
These are all slang/abbreviations of the drugs actual chemical name: 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine. The name used says nothing about quality etc. People throw these phrases around every chance they get. The only thing you need to know is XTC, Molly, MDMA, E, etc. are all just different names for the same chemical. In Europe, tablets usually don't contain psychoactive adulterants. Powders/crystals are more likely to contain adulterants*.
MDMA has quite an interesting history, much more than I am going to get into today. As I mentioned above, MDMA was first synthesized in 1912 but didn't see any recognized widespread use until the late 1960s to early 1970s. MDMA was synthesized originally in hopes of a compound to treat excessive bleeding, little did the man who synthesized it know he had created a compound that would be recognized on a global level in just a few decades.
According to the available information, Alexander Shulgin is one of the first to have experimented with MDMA on any considerable level. After having tried the substance, Shulgin strongly believed the substance could have great potential therapeutic value. He started advertising it to therapists and psychiatrists, which inevitably led to a gain in popularity. This is what most consider to be the start of MDMAs path to global recognition. Alexander Shulgin is an absolute legend and psychedelic pioneer, check him out sometime and read his books PiHKAL & TiHKAL. Wikipedia / Ask Shulgin (old website).
MDMA was always closely associated with psychedelics, cannabis and other hallucinogenic compounds. The peak of MDMA's historical values was definitely towards the later 1960s to mid-1970s, with many of the most popular names in music and other lines of entertainment having done or even directly referenced it. You could certainly say played a big role in the Psychedelic era we all know and love. It was known as the "love drug" during this time.
MDMA has been shown on a lot of love, but as with any other drug has received its fair share of undeserved judgment. It did wind up catching the attention of the drug enforcement. After many hearings, a US federal administrative law judge recommended MDMA should be a Schedule 3 drug. It does have the potential for recreational abuse, but also has at least some medicinal value. Despite this, the director of the DEA overruled this recommendation and labelled it a Schedule 1 drug. This means it has the potential for abuse, but no recognized medicinal value. Meanwhile, the Dutch government had a research rapport commissioned about potential therapeutic use. They concluded that there is enough evidence now to further investigate this as a treatment option (Executive Summary in English).
We have long known about MDMA's medicinal values, this goes as far back as the late 1960s. As soon as psychedelics, cannabis, MDMA, other hallucinogens and pretty much all other recreational drugs as a whole became "scheduled" all legally funded and performed research pretty much came to a halt. Up until the last 10 or so years, there was no research. None. One of the first large-scale (MDMA-based) studies was performed around the time of ~1967-1970 by Dr. Leo Zeff and to say the very least they were shocking and promising. Over 4,000 participants.
MDMA has been proven to be effective in treating countless different disorders and mental health issues! Such as depressive disorders, PTSD, anxiety-based disorders and even drug/alcohol addiction. I could name so many more, it's truly astonishing what all one compound can target. There is hope! Psychedelics, MDMA and even other recreational drugs are being decriminalized all over the United States and other parts of the world. Research is at an all-time high, medicinal access is at an all-time high, and most importantly, harm reduction is at an all-time high. You can even participate in one of the many MDMA trials currently being held worldwide (if you fit the participant criteria). Check Clinicaltrials.gov for more info. Change is happening.

This is just a brief summary of things one should know before experimenting with MDMA, I did my best to keep it short but deliver the information you need. If anyone has any suggestions on things I should/edit/other, please let me know down below! Feedback is always appreciated, makes things like these easier. I tend to overthink the small details, LOL! I may add to/edit this over time, who knows? Buy as always, best wishes to everyone out there reading. I hope this helps someone and happy rolling! ~~~~
PS Did you trip for the first time on MDMA after reading this? Please feel free to share how it went as a comment here, or make a post!
This sub gets so ridiculously carried away with “harm reduction”.
First, let’s talk about dosing. Yes, let’s not actively fry our brains or cause serotonin syndrome. It is good to know a starting point, and at what dose you’re just taking way too much. But to tell someone taking 200mg is way overdoing it is ridiculous. Because of its legal status there haven’t been concrete studies on MDMA. Most of you are pulling your info from shulgin, a scientist from almost 50 years ago or the MAPS study, which again is mostly therapy based and a different setting than what most of you are taking molly in. Literally just take a (tested of course) pill, take another one an hour or so later, and have a ball.
Next, all of these supplements that you put out there, you’ll be fine without. You don’t need a detailed routine to take molly and have a good time. Some of the shit I’ve seen posted is ridiculous. “Take these supplements before, these ones during, and these ones after”. Do you want me to carry a pill box with me to the next show I go to?
Lastly let’s talk about neurotoxicity. One of this subs FAVORITE words. I’m gonna go ahead and say most of yall don’t even know what that word means. I’m a nurse who works in a Neuro ICU so let me help yall out a little bit. Sure, if you take a fuck ton of MDMA or you abuse it you’re gonna have a bad time. But you won’t cause brain damage if you break the magical “3 month rule” that everyone freaks out about. The 3 month rule is again, based on shulgins outdated studies and common knowledge of neurotransmitters. The fun thing is, your brain is extreme neuroplastic. This means that even if you give it a good ol beating, it is very resilient and can recover fairly well. This is why if you have a goddamn stroke you can walk again afterwards. So many times I read people say “you’re going to do permanent damage”. Do you know how hard that actually is? Sure, if you do a gram of Molly in a weekend your brains gonna be mad at you. If you do it again the weekend after you’re probably going to be stunted, maybe for a long time. Just use common sense. Again, take a pill or two, wait a little, and take some more. Then give yourself enough time off that you feel mentally capable of doing molly again.
Look, harm reduction is a good thing but there’s no reason to get so carried away. Test your shit, take a reasonable amount, and don’t take it every weekend, and you’ll be just fine. Whether there’s studies about therapeutic use or not let’s just be honest, it’s a party drug. So party responsibly and stop worrying so damn much. And if you want to downvote me go right ahead I don’t care, just tired of people scaring the shit out of others.
*Edited to add a couple return keys because people got angry things weren’t arrange in nice little paragraphs.
Hey guys,
Experimented recently with some K before taking MDMA at a rave (about 25-35 minutes before) curious about whether this has any effect on the speed of the onset of MDMA ?
Normally takes about 45 minutes -1:30 hour, before the rolls starts without K
Planning on rolling this weekend with my friend at a peaceful forest retreat.
To preface: I do not abuse drugs. I have a 'drug day' about once a season / four times a year where I do a psychedelic or roll.
That being said, I just got myself a big beautiful stash of 2cb, mda, mdma, shrooms, acid, and ket. Were wanting Molly to be the main hitter, and definitely going to try the ket with it - - but what if we took SMALL doses of 2+ of the other substances? Does anyone have experience / advice / caution? Is it a waste to do too many at once? Most I've ever combined is acid + molly.
For a bit more information on me: I sadly often have uncommon reactions to drugs, and molly has just never given me the high everyone always talks about. I want to make sure I have a good time and am not disappointed like I usually am when I try to roll. I'm not trying to go to crazy and I do drugs for spiritual reasons alongside recreation.
Hey everyone, summer is coming and I like to roll once a year on a hot summer day, this year is different for me because I started taking SSRI’s specifically Prozac (Fluoxetine). Would like to know if anyone has experience with it or how should I go through it safely.
I've just dropped some crystallised MDMA in some tobacco rolling paper. Not sure if I've had enough, but how long should I wait before some having a bit more? It's been about 25 mins so far and not feeling anything.
If I take 100mg every hour for 12 hours will I still feel it by the end of the 12 hours or will I just have a massive come down
Which is more neurotoxic? And how long to wait in between doses?
Was at a music festival. Took about 120mg and was paranoid and uncomfortable. I think I saw a guy snap a picture of me.
Roughly 24 hours after, on the plane back home, felt very tired all of a sudden and closed my eyes and saw another guy in the same row trying to take pictures of my face while opening my eyes. I couldn’t say anything.
I did 2CB 30mg each day the first two days and Molly the last day. Lack of sleep, rest, nutrition, lots of heat, dehydration all 3 days.
Is it possible that those moments weren’t reality?
I’ve never experienced this before.
Been rolling and doing psys for years.
Any thoughts?
Whats are your experience with this combo? I heard that cocaine will eliminate the mdma effects, but what if I take cocaice first?
Pretty much just looking for people in my area to roll with this summer. 💯 I like to pair molly with Ketamine
I want to try rolling without Viagra and see if I can perform. Will the Viagra work once you are rolling if I'm not able to perform properly?
I have a friend who has a dealer that they regularly get their mdma from. They got it in powder form this time. I got a reagent test (marquis, Simon’s, and Froehde). Looked good with the first two, then the third one is kind of hard to tell, but it seems like it goes straight to the black/purple ish color which would mean it’s 5-MAPB.
Is this like a common thing that 5-MAPB is sold as molly? I will test it for fent as well, I’m not really opppsed to taking 5-MAPB, since it is similar to mdma. But I guess I’m just wondering the motivation behind selling this as Molly instead of what it is.
Im dropping in a few days and everytime i think about it i get anxious in an exciting way and then i want to shit so bad. I’ve been taking 4 dumps a day for the past few days just because i think about it. Anyone else experience this?
Hello everyone, just wanted to seek some feedback from ya'll about whether this is a good idea or not - so I'm fairly new to M, I've rolled about 3 times now, and have followed harm reduction guidelines to a T (2-3 months between rolls, no more than 200 mg per session, no more than 1 redose, proper hydration, yada yada), and I recently got 5-HTP and NAC for a really good deal from a local supplement shop.
I've heard ppl will take these daily for a while to "bring the magic back," especially if they've abused it. So I'm wondering, would taking it daily, or every other day, help mitigate risk w/M or is it overkill/waste of money, or could there be risk with it, specifically for someone who uses M as I do?
I assume it's not necessary, I'm just wondering if it could do anything to make my rolls worse or cause some unforeseen harm. I intend on doing M in 2 ish months (at that point about 3 months since my last roll), and I know you should stop taking it 1-2 weeks before your next roll. Thanks for the feedback!
last time i did mdma it took me an hour and a half to even start feeling anything, it then took another probably 45 mins before i even felt a comeup. this was on a large amount too (250mg or so and not all one pill)
im just wondering if theres anyways that i can make it hit quicker as i dont want to be waiting that long again if it happens next time which is tomorrow (i am also on ozempic so im aware this will slow down my digestive system when absorbing food and the mdma so it’ll take longer anyways but just want to know if theres anything i can do to make it go quicker)
I had an experience that I thought I would ask the group if anyone else has had the same. My wife and I have rolled eight times and I always have had an amazing time. This last time I had just a moment of a melancholy / depression feeling during the roll and it caught me off guard. I was able to shake it and continue having fun, but it was just so weird that it showed up nothing like that has ever happened before. I didn’t have any specific feelings or thoughts that brought it on it just showed up. I am not a sad or depressed person and am quite healthy and stick to the three month rule. We use normal dosages of tested good quality crystal. It’s not the biggest deal in the world. I just wondered if anyone else had a similar situation.
are there any great risks that come with taking a cold shower while being on 250mg?
I just took 125mg, I weigh 170lbs and I have experience with psychedelics before just never xtc. I've done mushrooms and lsd before plenty of times. The reason I've never done molly before if because it was never something that really peaked my interest, only reason I'm trying now is because I recently got some mushrooms and the plug gave me 5 gummies with 25mg of mdma each for free. So I took them all at once since I read that 120 is a good dose for someone my size. I plan on doing what I usually do when on psychedelics by myself and just listen to music and watch nature documentaries lmao.
What can I expect in terms of visuals, trip length, sensations, etc and do you guys have any recommendations on what I should do when it kicks in?
nic and weed on the comedown 👌👌💯💯
ive been on a 3 day bender (im stupid) and i just want to know what im going to be going through and what to look out for
Hello everyone.
I'm a healthy male with 38yo. I do crossfit 3 times a week and eat well. 73kg. Last Saturday me and my wife decide to have a rolling night at home together. It was her first time and my second (my first was one year ago). We took 0,110g each (we were almost empty stomach). It was an amazing time, even I couldn't get hard that night (I was aware it could happen) . The problem is that 4 days have passed and I barely can't get hard, when I can, it doesn't last much and the libido is almost nothing.
I'm completely freaking out with the idea that this can last forever 😭.
Please someone tell me I'm gonna be fine.
I'm losing my mind...
Thank you
Going to a festival this weekend and only have 70mg 6-APB, I’m thinking of taking that with 100mg MDMA. Does anyone have any input, do you think it’s a good mix?
