Dear r/nsfwcosplay Community,
First, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. For those of you who have been with me since the beginning of me taking over the sub, nearly 6 years ago when we were just 200k strong, thank you for believing in this community and helping it grow to what it is today—almost 1.5 million members! Together, we’ve created a space where creators can showcase their art, and where cosplayers and fans alike can come together to appreciate nude cosplay in a respectful and supportive environment.
From the start, my commitment has been to foster a creator-friendly atmosphere here on r/nsfwcosplay. It’s always been my goal to make this subreddit a place where talented cosplayers feel safe and supported in sharing their work. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together, but with growth comes new challenges.
Recently, many of us have noticed changes in Reddit’s algorithms. These changes have unfortunately opened the door for bad actors who use vote buying and bots to manipulate the visibility of their posts. This is something that undermines the authenticity and integrity of Reddit as a whole, and it’s an issue we must address head-on.
To combat this, I’m excited to announce that we’ve implemented a new bot designed to detect abnormal voting patterns and suspicious engagement. This tool will help us maintain a fair environment where every post is given the genuine chance it deserves based on the quality of the content, not manipulation.
But technology alone isn’t enough. I want to encourage more cosplayers to feel confident in posting their work here. This is your space, and your art deserves to be seen and appreciated for what it is. I also urge every member to engage authentically with the content you love, not just here but across all of Reddit. By doing so, we can ensure that the voices of real creators are heard, and that our community remains a vibrant and honest space for everyone. Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, we can keep r/nsfwcosplay the amazing place it has always been.
As always if you have questions, concerns, and/or feedback, I will do my best to answer those in the comments below.
All the best!
ps. this post was written with the help of AI so I didn't sound like a total idiot. ;)
Hello Cosplayers!!
Before I get too deep into the changes, I just want to thank you all again for making this subreddit so awesome!
Alright! Let's get into it!
Below is the rules that got added or revised. Please keep in mind that while I attempted to include as much clarity as I could, Reddit only allows so many characters for the rules. With that being said the main aim of all the rules is to keep the core in mind; This is a COSPLAY subreddit with nudity. All these rules are designed to encourage a FULL and as accurate as possible capture of the character you are cosplaying. Creativity is always allowed. So when creating your characters, keep in mind that if someone doesn't know who you are cosplaying, and they look it up, does your version accurately depict that character?
Okay onto the rules themselves.
EDIT: Given that these are newly updated or brand new rules. A lot of our current cosplayers might not know about the changes for a bit. You can report the posts of course, but be nice in the comments if you feel the need to let them know about the rule changes. We will remove things slowly to make people aware of the changes. This will probably impact the users who do mostly Bodysuits. Remember the person. Don't be a jerk.
2. High Effort and a Full Cosplay is Required
Edit 2: I received feedback that this rule felt restrictive in that ALL elements are required. They are not. Intention is to get as close as you can to the character's original source material.
We ask that you create a full cosplay that accurately represents your chosen character's official appearance from its source material (canon) as best you can. This should include clothing, accessories, and/or any special details.
You should also TRY using, props, wigs, makeup (if applicable), and/or creating a background that reflects the character's world. This will make your cosplay even more impressive!
We want you to be creative and have fun with your cosplay, while being accurate!
Why: To maintain the standard of quality cosplay representation in our subreddit and ensure that submissions align with the spirit of the community.
3. Low Effort
Why: To discourage submissions that do not meet the standard of effort and creativity expected in our community.
4. Bodysuits (Low Effort)
Why: To ensure that submissions involving bodysuits maintain the same level of effort and creativity as other cosplay submissions.
6. On (Full Cosplay) and OFF (showing nudity) Content Formatting
Why: To clarify the formatting requirements for posts and ensure that they include a full cosplay representation alongside any nude content. Again, you can be creative in your formatting. You can have lingerie, bathing suits, etc. All the things that typically the character might not wear or be considered the full cosplay. As long as in the post you have the full cosplay and nudity, it will work.
7. Reposts
Please wait at least 30 days before reposting.
Edit #3: We do not need reports for this. We have Magic Eye Bot to help us detect reposts.
Why: To reduce clutter and repetition in the subreddit and encourage fresh content.
Thank you for your attention to these updates. We believe these changes will help maintain the quality and integrity of our community. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to comment below or reach out to the moderators via modmail. Keep cosplaying and have fun!
