Hi all,
We open this discussion thread every day to give you all a place to come ask questions if you don't want to make a post, or just have a small ask.
r/Vaping rules still apply. We welcome chat, banter, rants, general complaints... whatever floats your boat! We all need somewhere to vent sometimes!
We do monitor these threads so your questions should be answered (if we have an answer) as quick as we can get to them =) If you don't get an answer, feel free to make a post in our sub for more reach.
If you have recommendations about things to include, poll or write, please let us know via MOD MAIL!
Thanks!
Good day all!
Recently, the mod team has noticed there's an influx in posts about disposables and also an influx of issues related to these posts/comments.
If you're old enough to have been around, I'm sure you remember a very similar argument was made against POD systems, before they became the accepted norm.
We've had to make this statement before, it's also in our sidebar and we've chose to write this post, again, to rehash our stance.
Although there's plenty of reasons to dislike disposables, at the end of the day they are vaping devices that help people find the harm reduction we here at r/vaping strive for.
These posts are allowed in this community.
Each persons choice of device is just that. Their choice and we want to ask everyone to respect that and be respectful of these users.
Part of the reason we believe we're seeing more concern is due to the recent banning of the most used disposable sub.
So, again, we ask you try and be kind, remember the human and let's be welcoming.
If you have nothing to add, that's ok too. Just don't be negative, it isn't beneficial for either parties.
We do hate that this message had to go out, but found it overly necessary due to all the issues we're dealing with lately.
If you need anything else, have questions, concerns, or whatever - Reach out to us in Mod Mail.
Have a great day!
From the r/vaping mod team.
Hi all👋🏼, Im a vaper for over a decade who been nic-free for about 6 mo, but noticed once again we are surrounded by idiots who don't even realize they are being manipulated and using the same debunked myths and intentionally disingenuous studies they used back in 2015🙄.
Especially in the U.S. the propaganda is so strong that .org and .gov sites as well as universities and academic studies all around drown out the real science so its hard for me to find info on it moreso than a decade ago. Even TikTok docs are flooding feeds and now every non-vaping person I lnow is telling me about heavy metals and diacetyl, so please give me all your scientific (preferrably academic) sources on the debunking of myths and detailed analyses on the propaganda. I'm ready to fight back against the disinfo campaign and spread every bit of decent info I find to the forner corners of the internet.
Most popular debunked myths: - Popcorn lung (Diacetyl) - Heavy metals in aerosols (Nickel, arsenic, lead, chromium, egc) - Cell/DNA damage - Lung damage (Vitamin K acetate) - Formaldehyde (dry burn/unreasonably high temp) - Unregulated - Studies inconclusive - Vapers turn into/revert back into smokers - Pushed onto children
I ask for scientific sources because most vids and sites with good info because I'm trying to enlighten ppl I care about that easily fall prey to this because they know nothing about vapes and aren't going to listen to some video of a tatted goatee having white guy that wears hats who owns a vape shop or a read from a regular .com site, no offense
I recently found out when I blow through the USB port (to clean from light dust and such, not major debris) the device fires? Is this normal or should I no longer make use of this device?
I would like to know if anyone in the community is from Brazil and uses Mod. I rarely see people using pods, let alone mods, 90% (at least here in SP) use disposables. If you are Brazilian and use mods, could you tell me about your experience? Do you make your own coils or buy them? How do exchanges work? Do you also make or buy liquids? And how does the feeling of smoking using a pod differ from smoking using a mod?
after not hitting it for the first half of the day i hit it and there was a weird black cotton like stuff that was in two pieces sucked into my mouth. I spat it out right back out but i was freaked out. The coil seems to be fine because I replaced it about 4-5 days ago and everything seems normal. And the cotton thing was JET black, not burnt black. What could it be? Thanks!
Hey everyone.
I have a lot of anxiety and (for now untreated) ADHD.
I am interesting into trying to vape CBD to help me with that, I did some research about different vape devices and it looks like the Vaporesso Luxe HR MAX may be a good fit for that ? Or would you have any other recommendation ? The Vaporesso XROS 4 looks nice too (I really don't like for example the single-usage CBD sticks, I don't like wasting working electronics and batteries).
Would it work fine for CBD ? I have no interest into nicotine stuff (I never smoked and the tabaco disgust me).
I am also hesitating with the dry CBD option, but it looks like it's more complex to use/prepare/clean than just vaping, I guess using both depending on the situation could make sense.
I am located in Barcelona, it looks like it's quite easy to find all forms or CBD around.
Once I have this, is there any specific kind of CBD I should target for anxiety/ADHD ? I am not super familiar if there are multiple type for example, I also heard I would need a certain type of resistance for the vape, any recommendation or guide I should follow ?
Thanks :)
What is the cigs/day equivalent? Thanks!
Hello Does a screen on a pod vape takes alot of battery?
Torn between geekvape sonder q2 and the q pro.
1200 vs 1350mah is not that crazy diffrence, the main diffrence for me is the screen.
Is there a actual battery diffrence compairing the two when it comes to screen?
I dont care for adjusting wattage, but it be nice adition if it takes no extra power.
So, currently, I'm rocking a Smok Nord 4, with a 4ml tank. I've had it for quite a while, and I'm looking for the best new pod vapex capable of 4ml or more, preferably with replaceable coils, like the one I already have. Any ideas? I'm based in the UK, but I suppose they all come from China one way or the other. Thanks in advance
I've been using disposables for a while now. Been vaping for a long time, not too familiar with the current market. I just remember having to buy new coils, unscrewing the tank, always leaking.. I just wanna find something easy to use, reliable and affordable prob a pod system. I want to start using freebase nicotine to cut down on my cravings. Wondering whats the go to option currently.
I'm not trying to use it for a very long time so I dont wanna make a huge investment. Hopefully ill be able to eventually quit. Just gotten too dependent. Need to always have it on me and constantly hitting it; wasting money too. Thank you.
I’ve been out of the hobbiest side of vaping for years now, the last few I’ve just been using an Aspire Pockex. Well, the local shops have started to run out of coils for it- so I’ve been hunting a replacement, but everything is either a pod system or a giant mod.
So I figure I’ll go back to a single coil RTA with some sort of relatively small 18650 mod- but the world seems like it’s gotten way more complicated and expensive. Any recommendations? Do the additional shipping fees usually apply to cotton/wire/coils by the way?
As a side question, are there any secondhand marketplaces for tanks/mods? I get the feeling what I’m looking for might be better suited by something not be in production any more, but of course, no clue where I’d source those.
Thanks
I’ve been observing the MTL scene and wanted to get some thoughts.
A lot of experienced MTL vapers seem to have their setups dialed in — tight airflow, perfect draws, everything on point. But what really stands out to me is how many of them end up vaping only NETs (Naturally Extracted Tobaccos). It’s like bakery, sweet, or fruity flavors just vanish from the conversation entirely.
Is that just part of the natural evolution in MTL vaping?
Do our palates become so tuned to subtlety that only NETs feel satisfying? Or are there still MTL vapers who enjoy dessert and fruit flavors — and actually taste them with any depth?
Because honestly, trying to dial in a setup for sweet juice is damn near impossible. Is that why people stop caring? Do they just settle for one tone of flavor because that’s what works best?
Just genuinely curious — is this a flavor delivery limitation, a shift in preference, or has MTL culture just leaned into tobacco by default?
I’ve been vaping for 2 years and currently i have vct ripe vapes on nexlim pod
does anyone know of a way to make vg free vape juice, or if there's a brand without? ik it's good grade but it causes lung inflammation when inhaled and id like to avoid it. if anyone has any suggestions or tips please lmk!
YiHi SXmini MQ Class
YiHi SXmini is a brand that I've wanted to try for a long time, and today, I finally bring you a review of one of their mods that has caught my attention especially for its size. We are talking about the MQ Class, a single 18650 mod with an incredibly small size, the smallest in my collection at least.
Thanks from here to Sourcemore for making this review possible, you can visit their page and learn more about this MQ Class.
Specs
Packaging
The device comes packaged in a rectangular box. In the center of it, we can see an image of the MQ Class. At the top and on the left, we can find some branding. Lastly, we find a warning about nicotine.
I can't say that this packaging excites me, but I don't dislike it either. It's really simple, although slightly elegant at the same time.
On the back, we can quickly see the contents of the box:
1* MQ Class Device
1* Type-C Cable
1* User Manual
1* Warranty Card
We also find some features of the device and some warnings, but no excessive logos or contact addresses, which I find strange.
Device Inspection
This part of the review, specifically with this photo, is going to be really long, as I'm going to talk about its aesthetics, materials, functions, vaping modes...
Let's start with its aesthetics. I think YiHi SXmini has tried to go for a really simple but very elegant look. We can see how the body of the mod "separates," so to speak, from its top and bottom parts. A detail that I really like is the color change between the general body and the silver parts; it really gives it a very, very elegant aesthetic in my opinion. As for its materials, we find a combination of Stainless Steel and Aluminum, with the aluminum occupying the entire central part, that is, the black part in this case, and the Stainless Steel occupying the top and bottom. I like that they have chosen such a resistant material for the atomizer threading, as we don't want to encounter the misfortune of it coming loose after a while.
If we look at the mod, we can see how it is divided into two parts; on the left is the entire battery compartment, and on the right is the chip (YiHi SX416J) in addition to all the electronics, buttons, and the screen.
Let's move on to the feel of the buttons now. I would assume they are made of aluminum, just like the body of the mod. The fire button has a travel that is neither too short nor too long, let's say it's something in between. As for the wattage up and down buttons, they have a much shorter and "crisper" travel, so to speak. Both feel really good and have a very addictive click.
Let's try to move on to the functions in the most orderly way possible:
- Mode
- Curves
- Shutdown
- Exit (from the menu)
- Brightness
- Update (for updates and more)
As it seems to me that this part is getting quite, quite long, I'm going to leave the modes and curves for the next image. Let's move on to explain the other functions:
Let's briefly talk about the screen and its information, and then we'll move on to the vaping modes and curves.
Well, the screen is very, very simple but gathers all the necessary information, nothing more than that. We can observe:
Well, a curiosity, so to speak, is that at the beginning of each puff, instead of the puff counter, the name of the curve we are using is displayed, and speaking of curves, I take the opportunity to link it and specify what it is about.
Many devices have it, one example that quickly comes to mind is GeekVape, but this MQ Class has made me actually use them because, in my opinion, they are much better implemented than those of other devices. It is a power curve, that is, we can start at, let's imagine, 55W and have it decrease progressively as the puff time increases, and vice versa. The device comes with three pre-configured curves:
However, if this were not enough, this chip and its electronics allow us to configure three custom curves, named SXi-EQ1, SXi-EQ2, SXi-EQ3. The curves are made up of 20 slots, and as I understand it, each slot represents 0.5 seconds of puff, that is, 10 seconds in total. The curves can be guided by percentages; they are programmed this way. Being completely configurable by the user, I'm not going to delve much further into the topic; everyone is free to configure it completely as they want and to their liking.
Well, let's talk about modes:
Something curious and that I didn't expect at all is that, to reset the puff counter, we must connect the device to a USB-C. Nothing else is needed; we connect it, disconnect it, and we have already reset the counter to 0. Something strange, honestly. I think they could have added an extra option in the menu and that's it.
Let's talk about the atomizer threading now. As can be seen in the image, the top part is anchored with two "star" screws. In the atomizer threading area, we find what is, for me, like the sight of a weapon, so to speak. Atomizers screw on without any problems and so far do not leave any kind of mark. Furthermore, thanks to its material, it seems like a very resistant area, although I don't know if the attachment will be sufficient. After 2100 puffs, I can say yes, but I don't know how it will hold up over time. Also, this mod is capable of holding atomizers up to 24mm, and these are the ones that fit best as they cover the entire surface.
Now we move on to the area I like the least and that scares me the most about this mod: the threading of the battery compartment. I have always, but always, been afraid of these threads, because it seems to me that depending on the material they are made of, they can be ruined quickly. In fact, sometimes it engages and turns great, but sometimes it has a small stumble, and this is a piece of information to take into account if it's a mod we want to keep for a long time. On the other hand, I should say that screwing it in slightly already makes the mod work, and it is usually recommended to screw it in until the screen turns on and works; this way, we don't press the battery too hard (of course, with caution, without it being able to fall out).
Regarding battery life, I can say that it drains them down to exactly 3.20V, just as advertised in the specs. This means it tries to get the most out of them, and it shows.
Here I show you a photo in comparison with what used to be my favorite mod (yes, this MQ Class has taken its place). The BP Mods Warhammer was the smallest mod I had in my collection without any doubt, but this one surpasses it; it's smaller in both height and width.
Pros And Cons
Conclusion
The YiHi SXmini MQ Class is an impressively tiny single 18650 mod packed with advanced features. It's got a simple but classy look and feels well-built with stainless steel in important spots. The accurate YiHi SX416J chip gives you lots of vaping modes and really detailed power curve adjustments, great for all vapers. Sure, the puff counter reset is a bit odd, and the battery threading has a minor quirk, but overall, it's a smart and stylish little mod that doesn't skimp on tech. If you want something super portable but still powerful and customizable, the MQ Class looks like it will fit you.
